Numbness or Tingling in the Arms, Hands, Fingers, Legs, Feet, or Toes
Numbness or tingling in the arms, hands, fingers, or legs, feet, toes is a very broad topic with numerous potential causes. In this section we will only touch on a few things to consider regarding these symptoms; as always, consult with your doctor for proper evaluation.
The causes of numbness and tingling can range from muscle strain to mutiple scleroiss or diabetes. Additionally, circulatory problems, such as blocked arteries and blood clots, are another cause of tingling.
If you have been diagnosed with, or suspect, a herniated or bulging disc, degenerative disc disease, and /or spinal stenosis, then your numbness or tingling most likely is due to nerve compression or inflammation, resulting in radiculopathy that begins in the neck or low back and frequently causes numbness or tingling in the arms, hands, fingers, legs, ankles, or toes. An artist’s rendition of nerve compression can be seen below.
The vast majority of our patients present with some level of numbness, tingling, or weakness in their extremities due to nerve compression caused by a bulging, herniated, or degenerated disc. If this is your case, many people have found relief with our method of care. Patients who are qualified candidates have over a 95% success rate in improving their disc injuries and eliminating or substantially diminishing their numbness, tingling, or weakness, and ultimately avoiding the inevitable surgery they were told they needed.
Here is one patients success story with our program: ”I’m a patient at the MN Disc Institute and I would strongly recommend their program to anyone suffering from disc problems. I had a herniated disc at L5-S1 which was pressing on a nerve that traveled down my leg. The pain was horrible. I couldn’t sit for more than 5 minutes when I began my treatment program. My feet were numb and I could not sleep or work. To make matters worse, this was the third herniation of this disc and I’d had two discectomy surgeries in the past. I was facing fusion surgery at 28 years old. I am so grateful to have found the MN Disc Institute!! I am one of their many, many success stories…pain free and back to living my normal life again thanks to Dr. Jamy Antoine and the NSD Method!” ALH
